Yongsun Kim

Hello, my name is Yongsun Kim and I'm pursuing my Ph.D. in Oceanography at Texas A&M University with Dr. Orsi as my adviser. I'm really happy to join the ESASSI project and sail to the Southern Ocean for the first time next year. On the R/V Hesperides cruise I'll take part in the CTD watch and data analysis. During the past year I've studied the water mass changes and flow patterns around Antarctica, and I realize there are still lots of problems to do research on. I hope the experience I'll gain during this cruise will improve my understanding of the oceanography of the Weddell-Scotia area. I can't imagine how cold it must be in Antarctica, harsh and beautiful at the same time. I am looking forward to seeing cute penguins, huge icebergs, the mysteries of nature, and meeting new cool spanish friends. See You There!
