Doctoral program in Tourism and
Environmental Economics
(PhD in T.E.E.)
For those students interested in
going further into Tourism and Environmental Economics,
at the same time as learning the foundations and
tools of scientific research obtaining as a culmination
of this learning process, the qualification of doctor,
the UIB offers the possibility of enrolling in the
PhD Programme in T.E.E.
This thesis option is designed
for students who wish to obtain a professional research
position, or a teaching position within an economics
or tourism related program.
The qualification of doctor is
obtained through two stages:
a) by obtaining the research sufficiency
(R.S.) To obtain the R.S. the student must obtain
70 credits by completing the PhD courses and through
a research report and research publications (first
and second years).
b) by writing and defending the
doctoral thesis (third and fourth years).
The Doctorate Program will be international,
with students coming from many different Universities.
In order to obtain a high degree of scientific quality
the Department will demand a complete dedication.
Admission will be restricted to students showing
high promise of success in graduate studies. Students
admitted at this Doctorate will be able to apply
to the Tuition Grants Program of the Department
of Applied Economics.
Access to the PhD in Tourism and
Environmental Economics
from the M.T.E.E.
The master and the PhD in Tourism
and Environmental Economics bear a close relationship.
The students of the Master who wish to continue
their studies towards a PhD can enrol in the PhD
whenever they meet the admission requirements.
The specific admission requirements
for the Doctorate program are:
a. The student have to be previously
admitted at the international academic Master in
Tourism and Environmental Economics (M.T.E.E).
b. The admission to the second
year of the postgraduate program will be restricted
to those students that have obtained a "C" (ECTS)
average or better at the courses of the MTEE and
the approval of the Doctoral Committee of the Department
of Applied Economics.
