The genus Pseudomonas includes many species of environmental, clinical, agricultural and biotechnological interests. Pseudomonas is well defined phenotypically and genotypically. However, numerous new species are being described continuously within the genus.
In this Database, we provide infomation to facilitate a multigenic sequence analysis in Pseudomonas taxonomy, phylogeny and evolution.
The aims of this Database project are:
-
Maintenance of a well described Pseudomonas strains collection.
-
Construction of a sequence-based database of selected genes of members of the genus.
-
Implementation of analytical bioinformatic tools for the multi-sequence-based identification of Pseudomonas species.
The database
has been elaborated with a collection of 423 strain names; representing
approximately 99 species of the Pseudomonas genus encompassing plant associated and
phytopathogenic bacteria, bacteria of medical importance, marine
bacteria and various groups of biotechnological interest (such as
nitrogen fixers, denitrifiers, biodegraders, etc.).
